Energy Fears Looming, New Survivalists Prepare

That's the title of the news article this post refers to. I don't know if I want to laugh or cry or both. Maybe laugh until I cry.

Convinced that the planet's oil supply is dwindling and the world's economies are heading for a crash, people around the country are moving onto homesteads, learning to live off their land, conserving fuel and, in some cases, stocking up on guns they expect to use to defend themselves and their supplies from desperate crowds of people who didn't prepare.

The old adage goes believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see. It's an election year. This oil supply crisis is media driven. You watch. As soon as the election is over and, God forbid, Obama is elected, prices, on all fronts, will go into a tail spin because now a Democrat is in the house and will save us all...until he rears his ugly liberal head. Remember, we only have a bad economy when there is a sitting Republican president. And the news media will go out of its way to gloss over the economy while a Democrat is in the office.

If McCain is elected, oil prices will still go down, probably not as dramatically and the steady drumbeat from the media of doom and gloom will continue.
